Before May 1954 the common belief was that man was not physically capable of breaking the 4-minute mile-barrier. It had never been done. Doctors and scientists performed tests and believed that no human could run a mile in less than 4 minutes.
Then came Roger Bannister. After failing in the 1952 Olympics, Roger Bannister set in his mind that he would break the 4 minute mile. On May 6, 1954, Bannister did something that was unheard of and thought to be impossible, he ran the mile in 3 mins 59.4 seconds. He broke the barrier. His record lasted only 67 days. And to date, thousands of people have broken the 4 minute mile barrier. Today, high school students break the barrier on a regular basis.
We often place limitations on ourselves. We buy into the story of our lives that others have written for us. Confucius said, “The man who says he can, and the man who says he cannot are both correct.”
What self limiting barriers are holding you back? Rewrite your story! Believe in YOU.
