Spiritual Wellness When You’re Tired Of Being Strong

Spiritual wellness is not just praying harder, reading more, or pushing yourself to “have more faith.” Real spiritual wellness is when your soul, your nervous system, and your inner child all get to exhale at the same time.
Maybe you’ve been the rock for everyone else—at church, at work, in your family. You quote the scriptures, you show up for the service, but when you get home, you feel empty and numb. You wonder, “If I’m so strong, why do I feel so alone?”
Three signs your spiritual wellness is out of balance
You use spiritual language to avoid your feelings (“God’s got it,” while you’re silently falling apart).
You feel guilty for resting, saying no, or not being available to everyone.
You feel disconnected from joy, even while you “do all the right things.”
These are not signs of weak faith. They are signs of a tired heart.
A heart-healing approach to spiritual wellness
Try this weekly rhythm:
One honest conversation with God: No fancy words, just exactly how you feel.
One act of radical rest: A nap, a walk, time with music—something that asks nothing of you.
One boundary: Say no to something you would usually say yes to out of guilt.
As you practice this rhythm, notice how your body responds. Do your shoulders drop a little? Does your breathing deepen? That’s your inner child learning that God is not another taskmaster; God is a safe place to land.
For churches and faith-based events
Spiritual wellness that feels like peace, not pressure, is possible—and when a whole room encounters that shift together, the atmosphere changes.
I bring this Heart Healer approach to pulpits, women’s conferences, and faith-based retreats, blending story, scripture, and nervous-system-aware tools so people leave with both hope and practical help.
